On Our Rates
A few things to keep in mind:
- We only bill for tutoring time, even though we spend a significant amount of unseen, unpaid time between sessions preparing and coordinating for our students.
- We loan materials at no extra cost.
- We regularly update this site, but it's best if you contact us directly to confirm information.

Lead Tutor, A La Carte
The rate for Josh depends on season and is 420-595 for 55 minutes. You should work exclusively with Josh if your 800-score is above or approaching 700, Q>39, V>35, or you are in a time crunch. A nonrefundable deposit is required to confirm an appointment.
Assistant Tutors, A La Carte
The rates for our assistant tutors depend on the instructor and the subject, but are generally between 195-355 for 55 minutes. For GMAT, our assistant instructors are most appropriate for raw scores below Q40 and V35.
Travel
The fee is the hourly tutoring rate applied to the time of a single round-trip, as indicated by Google Maps, plus any parking/toll costs (if applicable).
Typical Session Length
Most students meet for 1-1.5 hours, 2 or 3 times each week, but there is no session length or frequency limit. Note that frequency beats length: E.g. Three 1-hour lessons will help you more than one 3-hour lesson (unless we're doing live questions).
Math Solving/Consulting
Just need us to provide solutions to complex problems? Contact us to discuss details and determine an appropriate price. Please make it explicit that you are seeking the math solving service. These projects tend to run in the low hundreds to low thousands of dollars range, depending on the scope and level of difficulty.
☞ Ways to Save
-
Referring Other Clients:
Know someone else who needs tutoring? Send them to us and get a commission when they complete their second session. Commission is tutoring credit or cash, with more for the former. Commission increases as the client uses our service more. You can fund your entire tuition with referrals! Ask for details. If you've never used our service before, you can still earn a commission for each client you send after the first one.
Group rates
The cost per person is significantly reduced if we are tutoring more than one person. This is most effective if the students are at a similar level within the same class/topic. Group tutoring can be quite efficient if, while our tutor answering one person's questions, the other person is still working and developing their next question. Group rates vary on a case-by-case basis.
☞ Some Policies
-
Cancellation Policy
In order to maximally accommodate all of our students, and help keep a set schedule, students who notify us with their intent to cancel within 24 hours before the scheduled time are charged a half-lesson cancellation fee, except for their first cancellation, which is not charged. Students are then allowed one grace (uncharged) cancellation after each consecutive block of 10 lessons.
Late Policy
We don't so much mind clients being 5 minutes late, and we're flexible about this. However, if we have to start late and our tutors have something else scheduled after your session ends, we must make that appointment and you are still charged for the full session.
Potential Rate Variations
Occasionally, our schedule becomes so full that we cannot take on any new clients. When this happens, the price rises (supply/demand). Existing clients will always be notified at least 2 scheduled sessions or 1 week in advance, whichever is less, in the event of a future fee increase. Price increases will not be applied to prepaid sessions.
